[Update] League Of Legends MMO? Only On KickStarter

league-of-legends-mmo-banner

Thanks to one of our viewers it's come to my attention that somebody is working on a League of Legends MMO, and they've turned to KickStarter to raise $5 million. The ambitious project creator has raised $740 of the exorbitant goal with 56 days to go as of this writing.

Unfortunately for the project creator League of Legends is owned by Chinese conglomerate Tencent. And the company has recently flexed their legal muscles by suing copyright violators in their home country, a land where copyright infringement is as prevalent as the smog hugging Beijing.

However the goal of the project is not to steal Riot Games' assets:

"This project's goal is to get Riot Games to work on this project with us, not to steal or infringe anything whatsoever."

The creator aims to get Riot's attention and support. We'll have to wait and see what Riot thinks of the project.

Would you be interested in playing a League of Legends MMO?

The project creator clarified a few points in a comment below:

Even though your article has a negative connotation of my Kickstarter, I appreciate the feedback you and others are providing.

There is no copyright infringement going on; we're not making the game without Riot (and Tencent for that matter), and the likelihood of this thing hitting the horrendously high goal of $5million is a snowball's chance in hell.

If, by some magical happening, the goal was met and Riot refused the game, I will refund everything.

I'm in this for one thing: to spawn a game I would enjoy playing.

Again, thank you for the article! Have a nice day.

The Nostalrius Team Surveys The World Of Warcraft Community

world-of-warcraft-2003

The Nostalrius team announced over the weekend that it had put out a survey that is designed to ask you questions about what you might want from a World of Warcraft legacy server. For example, would you like a progression server or a Burning Crusade server? There are also a number of questionable questions, such as "what is your favorite raid and why?" Not sure why they would need to know that. Just restore vanilla or Burning Crusade or whichever expansion we want restored and we shall play our favorite raids. I was also asked to rate the importance of "Realm-wide events and memories," which I am not entirely sure can be categorized together.

The announcement states: "We believe it is now time to get a summary of your thoughts for legacy realms in general that will be presented to Blizzard at our meeting with our Post Mortem." And so they shall, should you fill out the survey.

World Of Warcraft Fans Recreate The Movie Trailer In-Game And Restore The Blood Elf Starter Zone

world-of-warcraft-order-hall

World of Warcraft fans have been busy recently, as two impressive new videos have shown up on YouTube. In one, Ivan Kuzkin recreates the entire Warcraft movie trailer in World of Warcraft itself. A side-by-side comparison was provided, as well, to show just how close of a match it is.

In the other video, Hayven Games attempts to restore Quel'Thalas—the Blood Elf starter zone—to its former glory, before the Scourge invaded and caused such damage as The Dead Scar.

You can find all three videos below.

Trinium Wars' Puton Conflict Update Opens A New Region

trinium-wars-apeman

Hanmaru Soft has announced that Trinium Wars' latest update, Puton Conflict, is now live. The update opens a new region called Puton, complete with its own quests and equipment, and raises the level cap to 40. The story for this area is as follows.

The war for precious Trinium rages on. Humans and Narc have conquered parts of Puton and set up their tactical outposts. But only the most experienced warriors should attempt the journey to this dangerous area that is filled with dunes and surrounded by mountains. In this barren land, devoid of trees and filled with blazing heat, only the fittest survive. So it is no surprise that the harsh environment and high radiation made the former inhabitants of Puton the most dangerous monsters seen so far.

Resource Wars will now be running every Saturday. Up to 1000 players can join the war for Trinium.

Additionally, the Deluxe and Collector's Editions of Trinium Wars are half off on Steam until May 16th.

Ambitious Dystopian Cyberpunk MMORPG Exile Online Takes To Kickstarter

exile-online-city-2

Exile Online is an extremely ambitious dystopian cyberpunk sandbox MMORPG. It boasts features such as fully customizable apartments and a fully persistent world in which your choices could influence the game world, causing the NPCs themselves to "evolve." Players will be able to take control of gangs and corporations. There will be faction-specific missions. The team seems to want to rival APB in terms of character customization. Combat will give players a number of ways to take down their opponents. There will be a completely separate cyberworld in which players can live permanently, should they so desire.

That is only a small number of the features that are being boasted on the Kickstarter page. The team at Exile Gaming Studio is looking for $43,289 to complete the game, which it has raise $930 of as of this writing. Unlike many Kickstarter projects, Exile Online is nearing its second public Closed Alpha test and it is already playable to some degree. The money will be used to bring new people on and speed up the development cycle.
