Torchlight Infinite Admits Season 2 Didn’t Meet Expectations, Balance Changes Incoming

Torchlight Infinite’s second season apparently turned out to be a disappointment to both players and its developer XD Entertainment, which the studio acknowledged earlier this month. The studio also posted an extensive Q&A that answers various questions related to game balance and how they plan to improve it in the next season.
In the Q&A post, the dev team confirmed that double dipping on damage bonuses through conversion chains is allowed and is intentionally part of the gameplay design. They also explained that conversion chains don’t just tack on additional damage but instead allows both damage bonuses to take effect at the same time.
XD also revealed plans to redesign and rebalance affixes and spells in Season 3 with the goal of reducing the damage gap between attack-based and spell-based builds. “We will increase the damage cap by changing the game engine, and we will continue to monitor damage data. If there are abnormally high damage values, we will investigate them,” assured the devs.
The team also promised to add more seasonal content and add more base crafting materials to season loot to add more variety and rewards to the mobile ARPG’s three-month long seasons. They also revealed that they’re looking into possibly allowing players to directly access items stored in their account-wide stash and that they’re currently working on adding a zoom option for mobile devices and improving the in-game tutorial.
All in all, the post offers players a general idea of what to expect in Season 3 and beyond. You can check out the full Q&A post here.
