Smilegate and Amazon are planning a sweeping round of server merges and one massive region merge for Lost Ark by popular demand.

The server merges will include all four server regions and will be done in two batches, the first on March 6 and the second on March 13. Those will be followed by a region merge this summer which will see the NA West, NA East, and South American servers squished together into one all encompassing server region for the Americas. No other details were given.

The team also addressed concerns about content parity between the Korean and western versions. As Lost Ark franchise head Soomin Park previously revealed, the team is taking an “it’s ready when it’s ready” approach but will be focusing on keeping the wait as short as possible this year while avoiding player fatigue.

“Our goal for 2024 is to balance the speed of the adventurers’ contents progression and gap between KR contents update,” says Smilegate. “As announced by the Roadmap, Breaker will be released in March and Thaemine will release in April. As Thaemine will be challenging to try, we have prepared various events starting in February.”

The studio is also working closely with Amazon to decide on the best time to roll out the Echidna (Ladon) Raid and the new Kurzon continent.

“We’re not only working on new content, but also to update existing contents. This is to address difficulties in playing the existing contents, such as rebalancing the difficulty of Brelshaza,” Smilegate explains. “It is difficult to disclose in detail about the preparations we are making for Western service here, but we will be able to do so separately soon. We will closely listen to your voices in community so that the adventurers will be able to have more enjoyable experience with Lost Ark.”
