Lost Ark’s “Rise of the Valkyrie” Update Launches August 20

Lost Ark’s next major update goes live tomorrow on August 20, and it is a busy one. The free-to-play action MMO, co-developed by Smilegate RPG and published in the West by Amazon Games, is rolling out the Rise of the Valkyrie patch on PC. Headlining the update is the new Valkyrie class, a hybrid support-DPS option that fills a gap between pure healers like the Artist and the game’s large roster of damage dealers. The patch also introduces a Trust Point system aimed at curbing real-money trading, plus a reworked Ebony Cube meant to cut down the so-called “homework” grind.

Main features landing on August 20

  • New class – Valkyrie: Builds Piety in combat to buff or heal teammates, uses a one-handed sword and light-based skills, and comes with a full Awakening questline, 10 achievements, a title, and a trophy.
  • Rise of the Valkyrie progression event: One character between item level 1640-1681 gains accelerated rewards through November 19. Includes an Event Powerpass that stacks with July’s pass.
  • Trust Point system: Players earn “trust” by spending gold on in-game upgrades. Low trust raises transaction fees or blocks trades, a move intended to deter RMT without punishing average trading.
  • Twinkle Twinkle Exchange: A limited Event Gold Shop from August 20-September 17 where gold can be swapped for honing materials, engravings, card packs, and the return of the Golden Frog token chests.
  • Ebony Cube revamp: Rewards are doubled starting at M50, ticket drop rates cut by 50 percent, and existing tickets auto-convert at a 2-to-1 ratio. Players can trade tickets for Hell Keys once per week.
  • Hyper Awakening unlocked in Tier 3: Characters at item level 1540 and character level 55 can now access the Hyper Awakening skill layer, bringing early-tier players closer to endgame builds.
  • Prestige Shop: Spend Royal Crystals and earn 10 percent back as Prestige Points, redeemable for skins, MVP backgrounds, and other cosmetics. Past Royal Crystal purchases are credited retroactively.
  • Quality-of-life tweaks: Cross-server gold mail, new mount summon menu, Paradise guide updates, and marketplace price caps to prevent over-inflated listings.

Lost Ark has leaned on a rapid content cadence since its Western launch in early 2022, regularly importing classes and systems from the original Korean version. This month’s patch continues that trend while tackling long-running player complaints about illicit gold sales and tedious daily chores. Servers are expected to be offline for roughly four hours starting at 2 a.m. PT while the build is deployed.
