Lost Ark’s Population Takes A Dive Following As Amazon Drops Its Mighty Banhammer

Amazon Game Studios’ continues its never-ending crusade against botters in Lost Ark with another massive banwave that wiped out more than two-thirds of the MMORPG’s population. According to the studio, the sudden drop in player numbers is the direct result of new and highly effective measures that it’s deployed to target and remove bots from the game.
“Players should expect these bot bans to have a positive impact on gameplay, including improved Market and Auction House experiences, decreased lag in heavily populated areas, and fewer bots present in the game,” reported Amazon. “In the coming months, we will continue to deploy large scale bot ban waves, implementing new methods of identifying and actioning against bots en masse. We will keep players updated about the deployment and impacts of these ban waves as they occur.”
As of this writing, Lost Ark’s 24-hour peak concurrency sits at just over 127,000 presumably all-human players, a huge drop from the 323,000 peak concurrency that it logged the night before the banhammer dropped, and Amazon is now basking in praises from the community on social media.
This week, many players have noticed a drop off in the number of concurrent users displayed in Lost Ark’s Steam stats. This change is the direct result of a roll out of a significant number of bot account bans.
