Gender-locked classes, which are common in Asian-made MMORPGs, have always been a pet peeve of gamers in the west. And, because Lost Ark will ship with gender-locking, Amazon Game Studios and Smilegate have decided to address player concerns early in their latest dev blog.

“From the earliest days of Lost Ark’s announcement in the West, we heard players’ feedback about gender locked classes loud and clear. While not every class in the game currently has a male and female counterpart available, we wanted to be sure to include those that do early on. In the future, Smilegate RPG will be creating more counterparts for classes that are still gender locked, and we will bring these to Arkesia in time.”

Meanwhile, Amazon continues to build hype for the long-delayed MMO with another addition to their Heroes of Arkesia class spotlight video series. The start of the latest video is the Sorceress, an elemental magic user armed with various crowd-control spells.

“The Sorceress wields powerful magic based on three elements (fire, ice, and lightning) with spells that can deal area damage. They can easily handle multiple enemies helping them dominate the battlefield.”

The Sorceress is the latest class to be added to the Korean version and will be one of the 15 classes that will initially be available when Lost Ark launches in early 2022. You can check out her new introduction video right after jump.
