Guild Wars 2 Brings Back Its Return To Living World Event And Players Aren’t Happy

Guild Wars 2 is drawing attention back to its Living World content as it brings back its Return to Living World Season 1 event. The event kicked off earlier this week and will run until January 23rd, offering a variety of rewards for completing the episodic campaign’s daily quests and meta-achievements.

Players, however, aren’t too stoked about what they’re claiming to be “filler” content with subpar rewards. The response isn’t exactly surprising, considering that you’re basically being encouraged to replay the first season for more of the same rewards apart from the new cosmetic earned by completing the overarching meta-achievement.

Readers will recall that ArenaNet introduced a revamped and permanently replayable version of the Living World seasons back in 2022. Prior to that, they were a series of one-time, limited-run events with one episode replacing another every few months. It looks like ArenaNet is now taking advantage of their now-infinitely-replayable nature to tide players over until the highly awaited weapon proficiency update arrives.

In any case, there’s rewards to be had if you don’t mind playing through the Season 1 storyline and quests again. For those who’ve yet to do them, it’s worth noting that you have a chance to earn both the story journal and event rewards until January 23rd.
