After giving away all of the Guild Wars 2 Living World episodes for free last year, ArenaNet is once again bringing back Season 1, this time as a permanent addition to the game starting this month. Episode 1: Flame and Frost, which originally came out in January 2013, will be rolling out on April 19th with a few tweaks and adjustments to bring it in line with the studio’s new storytelling format.

“As originally released, Living World Season 1 wasn’t designed to fit within the Story Journal, so we’ve restructured the content to feel more natural alongside our modern content,” said the studio. “These old instances didn’t need to be played in a specific order, so we wanted to make sure that Season 1 felt playable in a more linear fashion.”

“We’ve also made small, impactful adjustments to make the story feel complete and fleshed out given these changes. Our standard of storytelling has evolved over the last ten years, so we’ve taken this opportunity to edit some of the older text and add some additional lore books in Episode 1 to meet our current standards and characterization,” they said.

Note that, once released, Flame and Frost and all succeeding Season 1 episodes will become a permanent addition to the base game and will be available for free for all players without the need to login and claim them within a set period.’

New End of Dragons endgame content will also be arriving alongside Flame and Frost in the form of the Aetherblade Hideout Strike Mission. Both will be coming out on April 19th along with the usual array of fixes, tweaks, and changes.
