Guild Wars 2 Opens “Fractal Incursion” Event and Officially Launches Push PvP Mode

Guild Wars 2 has dropped a surprise update that does two things at once: kicks off a month-long Fractal Incursion bonus event and moves the experimental Push PvP mode into full release. The patch is live now and all content is free to every account tier.
Fractals of the Mists, Guild Wars 2’s five-player scalable mini-dungeons, are at the center of the update. ArenaNet is using the event to test a new Quickplay system meant to match players into low-level fractals without the usual Looking For Group hassle, while sprinkling open-world invasions and tiered rewards across Tyria. On the competitive side, Push leaves beta after a year of public testing, giving PvP regulars a fresh assault-and-escort game type that will remain in the permanent rotation.
What’s in the Fractal Incursion event?
- The Quickplay beta slots players into a curated list of scale-1 fractals through the LFG panel or a new portal in Lion’s Arch.
- Hourly open-world incursions appear in Snowden Drifts, Diessa Plateau, Kessex Hills, and Brisban Wildlands, rewarding agony-resistance infusions and achievement credit.
- The limited-time Fractal Incursion Champion meta offers 22 reward tiers, ending with a Legendary Weapon Starter Key – Universal.
- Permanent Incursive Investigation achievements roll out in weekly chapters and culminate in Eikasia, Mists-Grasper, a set of legendary gloves whose glow can be recolored with new Agony Lens infusions.
- Additional prizes include rare and exotic gear for fresh level-80 characters, two Bag Slot Expansions, a 20-slot bag, and a new Guild Captain’s Cape.
- The Wizard’s Vault adds extra objectives and items such as Lucent Crystal and Mystic Coin vault bags, an Essence of Gold, and an Infinite Mist Omnipotion.
- The event runs until 07 October 2025 at 12:00 p.m. Pacific (UTC-7).
Push mode exits beta
- The 5v5 mode blends territory control with a movable objective, similar to Overwatch’s Escort but built around Guild Wars 2’s combat and mobility systems.
- ArenaNet adjusted barrier sustain, moved secondary objectives, improved visual cues, and added teleport pads to diversify pathing on the Sunjiang Backstreets map.
- Respawn-adjacent ramps were removed to curb pre-match griefing.
- Developers will continue to monitor balance and map flow, but Push is now part of the default unranked and custom PvP playlists.
