Guild Wars 2’s Mesmer Is Getting Access To The Rifle And New Support Skills

Guild Wars 2’s parade of weapon proficiency previews continues with a sneak peek at the Mesmer’s new rifle option. Contrary to how rifles usually work, the Mesmer’s will be able to use boom sticks not only offensively but also to support and even heal their allies.
One of the Mesmer’s new skills, for example, shoots a beacon that their allies will be able to rally to. The beacon bursts after a set period of time to grant all nearby allies might and fury. The beacon can also be detonated ahead of time to heal allies in a pinch instead of granting them buffs.
Another equally useful Mesmer rifle skill shoots a bullet at a target location that grants barrier and resistance to nearby allies. It will also create a singularity that can be detonated to create a single-use portal that allies can use to teleport to the Mesmer’s location, hopefully a much safer one.
As with the Thief’s poisonous axe and the Revenant’s tethering scepter, the Mesmer’s new rifle proficiency will be available for testing in a beta test scheduled for November 28th at 10 p.m. PST. ArenaNet will also be offering more previews in a developer livestream on November 27th.
For now, you can catch a glimpse of the Mesmer’s new rifle skills in the teaser trailer below.
