Genshin Impact Lunar New Year Update Adds A New Region And Two New Characters

Genshin Impact’s next major update is just around the corner, and it might be the anime MMORPG’s longest titled update yet. Update 4.4, a.k.a. Vibrant Harriers Aloft in Spring Breeze comes to the gacha title on January 31, marking the start of Lunar New Year festivities in Liyue.

This year’s celebrations will feature a kite theme with new mini-games, activities, and rewards, including a Xingqiu outfit and a variety of Intertwined Fates. Liyue itself will be expanded with a new mist-shrouded region called Chenyu Vale that you’ll be able to access by transforming into a magical flying carp. The new zone promises new areas to explore, new mythical beasts to fight, and at least one new boss encounter.

“Spring has come early, and in its wake a rising beast, gazing up towards the clouds against an auspicious breeze. Soaring up like wild cranes the harlequin kites ascend, while a stream flows back through a vale of hidden treasures.”

Update 4.4 will also introduce two new characters right off the bat in the form of the 5-Star Anemo-user, Xianyun, and the 4-Star Pyro fighter, Gaming. A second banner will be arriving later and will be bringing back Xia and Yae Miko for a rerun.
