Last week, Square Enix temporarily disabled Data Center Travel due to congestion following the opening of new data centers and Worlds in the European and Japanese regions. After some backend fiddling, Data Center Travel functions were restored the next day but with the possibility of extended wait times of up to 30 minutes during peak hours.

The developers have now released a hotfix to improve server stability and increase capacity to help alleviate congestion and prevent issues as the demand for the feature continues to fluctuate at different times of the day. Wait times, however, are still to be expected.

“To reduce the load on the Data Center Travel system, we have adjusted the communication interval with the server after selecting a World and pressing the Confirm button,” explained Square Enix. “As a result, there will be a wait time for obtaining information before the screen with the Execute button appears after selecting a World.”
