Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter Wilds Plan Two-Way Crossover for October 2025

Square Enix and Capcom are teaming up this autumn, bringing creatures and gear from Monster Hunter Wilds into the long-running MMO Final Fantasy XIV Online while sending Eorzean icons the other way. The collaboration was announced during Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live, where FFXIV producer Naoki Yoshida and Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto shared a brief teaser and an October launch window.
This isn’t the first time the two franchises have crossed paths. 2018’s FFXIV × Monster Hunter: World event proved popular, but it is the first time content is being built for both directions simultaneously. For FFXIV, the highlight appears to be a new Trial revolving around the towering Guardian Arkveld, a monster debuting in Wilds, while Capcom’s upcoming action-RPG will receive its own slice of Hydaelyn-flavored content later in September.
What’s been confirmed so far:
- Guardian Arkveld Trial in FFXIV: A high-level encounter based on a creature from Monster Hunter Wilds, complete with themed rewards.
- Eorzean gear in Monster Hunter Wilds: Weapons and armor sets inspired by classic FFXIV jobs, arriving a few weeks earlier in Capcom’s title.
- Staggered rollout: Content hits Monster Hunter Wilds in late September 2025, followed by the FFXIV event in early October.
- Separate in-game quests and achievements: Each title will offer its own progression path rather than a shared reward track.
Square Enix and Capcom say more details are coming over the summer. Until then, players can watch the teaser trailer and keep an eye on the official collaboration sites for exact start dates and reward previews.
