After struggling to accommodate the deluge of players that flocked to Final Fantasy XIV following Endwalker’s release, Square Enix is now working create some space, particularly in the Japanese and European regions. To do this, the team will be restructuring and expanding both the Japanese and European data centers.

In line with the expansion, the Japan will be getting a new logical data center called Meteor, while players in Europe will be getting two new Worlds each for both the Chaos and Light data centers. This also means that players on the above-mentioned regions might need to be shuffled around and will be getting free Home World Transfers and housing compensation once the expansion has been completed. European players will also get additional EXP and in-game currency bonuses when they transfer to any one of the new Worlds.

The expansion will be performed during the maintenance period for Patch 6.18 on July 5th which is expected to last for 24 hours. Once the expansion is complete, players on the affected regions will not be allowed to join the housing lottery until the team can verify that everything is working as it should.
