Destiny 2 Set To Launch On September 8th And Yes, It Will Be On PC, Too

Remember how Activision finally announced Destiny 2 by posting its logo to Twitter, then followed up by releasing a teaser trailer yesterday? Remember how we didn't have any details about the game at the time? Well, now we've got details.

Activision formally announced Destiny 2 today with a "Rally the Troops" trailer that doesn't show off any gameplay, but provides just enough to get us hyped about the game. The game is set to launch on September 8th at the price of $59.99 and yes, the rumors are true. Destiny 2 will be launching on PC on day one. There will also be a $249.99 Collector's Box for those that are interested in a number of physical Destiny 2 collectibles, including a real backpack/messenger bag, as well as a less expensive Digital Deluxe Edition.

To get us more hyped about the game, there will be a "hands-on gameplay reveal livestream" on May 18th. That stream is when we will get our first real look at the game. A Beta will follow after sometime this summer.

The story of Destiny 2 is as follows.

In Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lay in ruins, occupied by a powerful new enemy and his elite army, the Red Legion. As a Guardian in Destiny 2, players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city’s forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home.

Bungie CEO Pete Parsons had the following to say about the announcement.

The past three years have been incredibly inspiring and rewarding for Bungie. To know that millions of players around the world have forged lasting Destiny memories and even made it their hobby is truly humbling and we can’t wait to continue the journey. We are looking forward to sharing a fresh, inviting story, and with the upcoming Destiny 2 Beta slated for this summer, we are eager to get feedback from millions of players around the world who will get a glimpse of the new adventures that will unfold for all of us. Together, with our partners at Activision, we are thrilled to get Destiny 2 in the hands of players in September.

You can find the full press release on Activision's blog.

Destiny was pretty awesome, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting Destiny 2. More so now that I know that I'll be able to play it on PC. Who else is planning to get Destiny 2 this September?
