Amazon Games is gearing up to launch Season 10: Nighthaven for its PC MMO New World: Aeternum on Monday, October 13. The patch is free for all and represents one of the game’s most sweeping overhauls since its 2021 debut. Beyond the usual new zone and story questline, the update raises the level cap to 70, introduces a fresh 10-player raid, and re-tools endgame progression to encourage more flexible builds.

New World’s seasonal cadence has helped stabilize its player base after a rocky launch, and Nighthaven attempts to push that momentum further. A procedurally generated three-player “Catacombs” mode looks to offer replayability, while the new gear-modding system aims to replace the game’s far more rigid gemstone meta. For returning players wondering whether a comeback is worth their time, here are the need-to-know additions:

  • Nighthaven Zone: A secluded region of haunted forests and crumbling castles, ruled by an isolationist king and stalked by hybrid man-beast monsters.
  • Tear of Gaea Storyline: Continues the post-Elysian Wilds arc as players hunt down a lost artifact with the help of Nighthaven’s enigmatic nobles.
  • Catacombs Mode: Three-player, procedurally generated dungeons with escalating difficulty, timed extractions, and mode-specific power-ups.
  • Isle of Night Raid: A 10-person endgame raid featuring three bosses, light puzzle segments, and new Lost enemy variants. Designed to match the difficulty of Hive of Gorgons.
  • Level Cap 70 & Gear Score 800: All PvP modes now scale to 775, keeping high-end gear relevant across activities.
  • Perk Charms & Set Bonuses: Gear now supports up to four sockets for offensive, defensive, or skill-based charms. Ultra-rare sets offer 2/4 or 3/5 piece bonuses, promoting mix-and-match builds.
  • Umbral 2.0: A new shard currency with a 1,000-unit wallet cap and weekly earn limit replaces the older gypsum grind.
  • Perk Rebalance: Attribute-boosting perks are gone, with base stats folded into leveling. Many “must-have” combat perks have been reworked to include trade-offs.
  • OPR Map The Tower: A vertical 20v20 battlefield featuring three capture points, jump pads, underground mines, and a multi-level gothic fortress.

Players can test-drive the new Outpost Rush map from September 23 to 30, while a developer deep-dive video is scheduled for early October. If Amazon’s revamped progression systems land as planned, Season 10 could mark New World’s biggest quality-of-life leap since launch.
