Blue Protocol: Star Resonance Sets a 2025 Release Date and Cross-Play Plans

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, the anime-styled MMORPG, now has an official western launch date of 9 October 2025. The studio confirmed that the game will arrive simultaneously on PC, iOS, and Android, with full cross-platform progression. Players can already wishlist the title on Steam and the Epic Games Store or pre-register on Google Play and the App Store. While the game was originally created by Bandai Namco, the current iteration, Star Resonance, is Tencent's mobile version that has been reimagined for PC and Mobile.

Originally released in Japan on PC in 2023, Blue Protocol carved out a niche among fans of action-heavy MMOs who wanted something closer to a playable anime. Unfortunately the PC version from Bandai Namco has since shut down. Star Resonance, developed by Tencent, serves as the first global release and folds in feedback from a recent closed beta that drew more than 29,000 testers. The developers say they are using those results to fine-tune combat balance and social features before launch.

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance Key Features:

  • Action combat: Five weapon-based classes at launch with talent trees that encourage frequent respecs rather than rigid roles.
  • Anime visuals: Cel-shaded characters and environments designed with Unreal Engine to mimic hand-drawn animation.
  • Open-world structure: Seamless zones filled with story quests, instanced dungeons, and large-scale raids that require coordinated party play.
  • Social systems: Guilds, player trading, housing, and worldwide events aimed at keeping communities active between major content patches.
