Dark And Light Delayed To 2017, Steam Store Page And Website Now Live

It's December 19th. With a mere 12 days left in the year, it's once again time to ask "where's Dark and Light?" It was originally announced that the game would launch on Steam Early Access by the end of the year, but alas, it's December 19th and we don't even have a release date.
Perhaps knowing that we would be asking that exact question today, Snail Games posted an update on the official Facebook page stating that the game's development is "progressing smoothly," but that the team will need additional time to ensure that it is "delivering the best experience possible for players around the world." Thus, the game has been delayed until 2017.
The good news, however, is that the Steam store page and website went live today alongside the announcement. Some awesome new screenshots and a new trailer await those who decide to check either out. More screenshots, videos, "pre-launch community events," and development updates will be posted in the near future.
The Steam store page also gives us a few new details about the game. The Early Access version of the game will be fairly representative of the final game, but Snail Games intends to add more maps, more spells, more servers with higher player caps, and various other improvements over the course of Early Access. Updates will go live every month or two.
The game in its current form boasts over 100 spells. In addition to adding more spells, the team plans to add more ways that players can use magic to interact with other gameplay systems.
While factions and PvP will be available from the get-go, Snail Games intends to improve upon both during Early Access. Factions will get "improved faction-based features, including unique NPCs, building types, merchant and trade relationships, and more," and "cross-server PvP activities" will be implemented at some point.
The game will feature systems of advancement for both players and NPCs. Players will have the option of being anything they want, be it a mage, warrior, or even architect using the game's classless skill system. Players can master every single skill in the game, should they want to, but it is said to "require tremendous time and effort." NPCs will also be able to advance in some manner, but the details about those systems have yet to be revealed.
There are dozens of creatures in Dark and Light that can be tamed, such as centaurs, dragons, goblins, gryphons, and unicorns. Each one has magical powers of some sort. They can be hunted for food and clothing, their magical essence can be extracted, or players can tame them.
Additionally, the minimum system requirements have been revealed. They are as follows.
- OS: 64-Bit Windows 7 Service Pack 1, or Windows 8
- Processor: 2 GHz Dual-Core 64-bit CPU
- Memory: 4000 MB RAM
- Graphics: DirectX10 Compatible GPU with 1 GB Video RAM
- DirectX: Version 10
- Storage: 40 GB available space
While we do not yet have a release date for Dark and Light, it is noted that the game will be cheaper during Early Access than it will be at release. You can find more information on the Steam store page or the official website.
