World Of Warcraft Is September's Second Most Played Game According To Newzoo

Newzoo has released a new report detailing the "Most Played Core PC Games in September" and there are a few interesting notes included. While it hasn't knocked League of Legends out of its #1 most played spot, the release of Legion saw World of Warcraft shoot up three ranks, knocking Minecraft, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Hearthstone down one place each. While not reflected on the chart, Newzoo reports that a "large number of churned League of Legends players" moved over to World of Warcraft, contributing to its rise to second place.
Thanks to various discounts, content updates, and improvements, Rainbow Six: Siege rocketed up six ranks to #9. Ark: Survival Evolved had a similar meteoric rise, jumping up seven ranks to #11 due to a 40% discount and the Scorched Earth DLC expansion.
It's also interesting to note that, despite continuing to average over 600,000 concurrent users, Dota 2 has fallen four ranks to #18. This may be due to the fact that the rankings are based on Overwolf user activity and the apps may not be used by much of the Dota 2 community.
