Hearthstone Opens the Timeline with ‘Across the Timeways’ Expansion

Blizzard’s long-running digital card game Hearthstone is jumping into full time-travel mode. The next expansion, Across the Timeways, lands on November 4 and introduces 145 cards built around two new mechanics, Rewind and Fabled. The set lets Blizzard revisit famous Warcraft characters at different points in their lives, something that fits the game’s quick-fire update cadence and its focus on unpredictable matches.

This release addresses two persistent community talking points: giving players more agency over random effects and shaking up deck construction with auto-included cards. The story centers on Bronze Dragonflight chronomancer Chromie recruiting heroes from alternate timelines to stop her future boss-turned-villain, Murozond.

• Rewind lets players replay cards that have random outcomes, effectively offering a second roll of the dice when an effect misses the mark.
• Three Rewind cards: Mister Clocksworth, Portal Vanguard, and Semi-Stable Portal will be distributed for free through log-in rewards, the in-game shop, and an upcoming event.
• Fabled cards arrive with an attached pair of Legendary companions that slot directly into your deck, changing how class lists are built. Each class receives one Fabled Legendary, including a pre-Scourge Sylvanas who fights alongside her sisters Alleria and Vereesa.
• Additional time-bending cards include Timeway Warden, which locks an enemy minion out of play for 10,000 turns, and Divergence, a spell that splits a minion in hand into two copies.
• Pre-purchase options are available until launch, ranging from a 60-pack bundle to a larger 80-pack bundle that adds cosmetics like a Chromie mage skin. Buying both unlocks a follow-up “Sequence” bundle that features a Diamond version of Timelord Nozdormu.
