Warhaven Game Director Talks Up Onboarding And Matchmaking Improvements

It’s been a little over three months since Warhaven concluded its month-long open beta, time which Nexon has spent crunching the numbers and processing player feedback. In response to the data they’ve gathered, the team will be making significant adjustments to make the 16vs16 medieval melee brawler a bit more forgiving, especially for new players.
According to a recent interview with Game Director Eunseok Yi, many of the upcoming changes are focused on making it easier for newbies to learn the game’s core mechanics. These include adding AI bots to help ease players into actual PvP combat and reworking the Onslaught mode to reduce its overall difficulty and hopefully make it more fun.
Yi says that they’ll also be reducing the number of interactions needed to complete match objectives and will be tuning down collisions with the environment and allies. He also promises deeper combat mechanics to make the PvP brawler much more difficult to master along with improvements to matchmaking to refine initial matchups and make it easier for players to join ongoing matches.
You can watch the game director’s full in-house interview in the new developer video below which also offers a few tidbits and stats from October’s open beta test.
