Warhammer 40K: Darktide Shines The Spotlight On The Preacher Class
Fatshark’s new Warhammer 40K: Darktide class preview video series introduces fans to the archetypes (base classes) and classes (specializations) that they’ll be able to choose from in the new co-op first-person shooter. The series kicks off with a preview of the Preacher class for the Zealot archetype, a holy warrior who won’t hesitate to bash enemy faces in with a massive hammer and gets stronger the more he receives damage.
“Preachers yearn for the release of death and arrival before the Golden Throne. Alas, it seems the Emperor yet has need of them in the mortal world and so they fight on, blows emboldened by pious rage as their lifeforce ebbs, and fury heightened by the knowledge that each scrap of pain brings them closer to reward,” wrote Fatshark. “Preachers care not if they live or die, so long as the foe is vanquished. Their faith hardens as they suffer injury, empowering attacks with holy wrath and strengthening their will to fight on!”
Preachers are especially effective against armored enemies and deal more damage the lower their health. They can also resist lethal damage, allowing them to safely get out of situations that would have otherwise killed other classes and archetypes. Their class skill also allows them to rush in and take the heat off of a teammate by engaging enemies and locking them in melee combat.
The Preacher will be one of the classes that will be available on day one when Warhammer 40K: Darktide launches on November 30th. In the meantime, you can check out the Preacher spotlight video below to watch gameplay footage of the class in action.
