Warframe Unveils Next Major Story Arc and Content Updates at TennoCon 2025

Digital Extremes marked a decade of TennoCon by announcing the next big narrative chapter for Warframe, their long-running free-to-play sci-fi looter shooter. At the 10th annual event, the studio revealed "The Old Peace" will launch in 2025, bringing new quests, a side story, and multiple content expansions across the year. The studio also teased Tau, a major narrative chapter planned for 2026, hinting at a continuing evolution for the game’s sprawling lore and universe.

Warframe has developed a reputation for ambitious narrative updates and regular content drops since its 2013 debut. Despite being over 12 years old now, the game is still going strong, averaging 46,876 concurrent players on Steam over the last 30 days.

Highlights of the recent announcements:

The Old Peace (2025): Warframe’s next major narrative chapter revisits the fragile peace between the Sentients and Orokin, introducing a new main quest. Players will encounter new characters, including a Sentient childhood friend named Adis, and explore the war-torn history with the Dax Anarch Warriors on the Perita moon.
Side Story: The Devil’s Triad: Launching alongside The Old Peace, this cinematic side story introduces three new characters—Father Lyon Allard (Protoframe of Harrow), Marie Leroux (Protoframe of Wisp), and Uriel, a devil-themed Warframe. New Protoframes and a unique enemy faction are also part of the update.
Operator Remaster: The Operator character models and cosmetics are receiving a visual overhaul, with improved facial animations and updated assets to match the game’s latest standards.
Tauron Focus Expansion: A new Focus expansion will add an ultimate ability for Operators, with further information expected in upcoming developer streams.
New Music: An original track, "Lullaby of the Manifold," centered around the character Adis, is now available on YouTube and will release on streaming platforms on July 21.
Valkyr Heirloom Cosmetic (July 21, 2025): A new cosmetic collection for Valkyr, reflecting her recent gameplay rework, arrives in collaboration with artist Pertti Bahaa.
Warframe x Starfinder Tabletop Collaboration (October 2025): In partnership with Paizo, a tabletop RPG adventure called "Operation Orias" will bring Warframe’s universe to the Starfinder system, with more details coming at GenCon.
Untitled Fall Update (Fall 2025): This update focuses on new player onboarding, introducing a Mod tutorial quest called "The Teacher" developed with Sumo Digital, as well as a rework for Oberon, a Lavos deluxe skin, and other quality-of-life improvements.
Android Closed Beta (Fall 2025): Warframe will begin closed beta testing on Android devices, marking another step in expanding the game’s reach to mobile platforms.
Caliban Prime Access (Coming Soon): Caliban Prime, teased in the TennoCon demo, will be available ahead of The Old Peace launch, along with new Prime weapons and accessories.
Tau (2026): The story arc introduced in The Old Peace will continue into 2026 with the Tau narrative chapter, further expanding Warframe’s ongoing Void War storyline.
