While Tencent may insist that Tarisland isn’t a World of Warcraft clone, there’s no denying that it bears a lot of similarity to Blizzard’s popular fantasy MMORPG. Case in point, the studio has just hired former WoW composer Russell Bower to work on the game’s musical score.

“Brower’s epic, original themes will reflect the different regions of Tarisland, and accompany players on their heroic adventures and colourful travels through the lands of Taris,” Tencent announced. “Russell Brower is a highly acclaimed Emmy Award-winning and BAFTA-nominated composer who has created music for some of the world’s most iconic brands in video games, television and film.”

“Brower has collaborated with companies such as Blizzard Entertainment, Warner Bros., and The Walt Disney Company. The appeal of Brower’s compositions has crossed over from the medium in which they originally appeared, finding new fans around the globe,” the Chinese publisher added.

Brower previously worked on music for multiple Blizzard games before he left the studio in 2017. His works include music for World of Warcraft expansions from The Burning Crusade to Legion, Diablo 3, and Hearthstone.

The accompanying press release also confirms the next global closed beta test for November.
