Sulake’s Habbo NFT Avatars Sold Out In Just 26 Hours
Last week, Habbo Hotel developer Sulake put up NFT avatars for sale, which surprisingly sold out just 26 hours after they launched. According to the studio, the NFT sale is the first of its kind from an existing video game title with 11,600 unique randomly-generated avatars purchased by over 2500 collectors.
“90% [of the avatars were] sold in the final 30 minutes of the auction, showing an incredible uptake in the NFT collectibles,” said Sulake. “The Habbo Avatars launch has been one of the most successful launches within the last 7 days and since the purchases were made before the Avatars were revealed, this demonstrates the huge desire to own iconic Habbo memorabilia.”
To protect the environment from the adverse effects of minting, Sulake and parent company Azerion have partnered with Offsetra to help offset carbon emissions by 200% through various environmental programs like Agrocortex REDD Project and Bull Run Forest Carbon.
“We are extremely pleased with the success of our Habbo Avatars project and the support that we’ve seen from the community so far. This is truly a nostalgic product, and despite being 21+ years old and one of the original metaverses, the Habbo community is still a very large, passionate and active community throughout the world,” said Sulake CEO Valterri Karu.”
“So rich is this sense of nostalgia that the Habbo Avatars themselves were not revealed to their new owners upon purchase until October 5th. It’s really been the driving force behind this train, and it’s exciting to see how excited people are about this next step in our evolution,” he added.
