Habbo Hotel Developer Sulake Has Been Fully-Acquired By Azerion Holding
Finnish developer Sulake, the studio behind Habbo Hotel and Hotel Hideaway, has been fully-acquired by Azerion Holding, a European media and technology company. Azerion initially purchased 51% controlling shares in the studio in 2018 and has now reached an agreement with the studio’s other shareholder to purchase the remaining 49%.
Since Azerion purchased controlling stake in Sulake, the company has helped the studio’s revenues grow by as much as 46% between January 2019 and December 2020. According to GamesIndustry.biz, Habbo Hotel is a multiplayer social game with over 800,000 monthly users across 115 countries. It’s mobile spin-off Habbo Hideaway has over 840,000.
As for Sulake, the studio’s management and its employees will remain in place and will continue to operate from their headquarters in Helsinki. “Nothing will change for the Sulake game communities as a result of this acquisition,” assured Azerion.
