Star Citizen Wins Prestigious COTY Award 2016

Star Citizen has received the prestigious Cult of the Year Award 2016 from the Committee For Excellence in Cults based in Genva, Switzerland. Previous winners include the posthumously awarded Jonestown, Heaven's Gate, both the new left and Alt-right, and KickStarter-backed MMORPGs.
"It is a well deserved achievement for Robert Space Industries and the Star Citizen team," says Committee President Solomon Guggenheim. "No other cult throughout history has so easily motivated its members to hand over their fortunes in exchange for promises. Star Citizen is only rivaled today by Scientology, but we believe Star Citizen has the potential to become a religion in its own right."
Chris Roberts could not be reached for comment at this time. We can only imagine the Star Citizen team is overwhelmed by the news and currently busy celebrating the momentous occasion. Recognition as a global cult is no easy task: many have failed trying to become one. But Star Citizen has not only garnered a devout following but become bloated with funding as well, with some acolytes spending over $15,000 on concept art. Truly an incredible achievement.
Star Citizen still has no concrete release date for its original Kickstarter-funded vision.
