Silvermoon Reopens and Housing Arrives as Blizzard Opens Preorders for Midnight

Blizzard has officially announced Midnight, the second chapter in World of Warcraft’s multi-expansion Worldsoul Saga, and digital preorders are live starting today. The expansion returns players to Quel’Thalas for the first time since 2007’s The Burning Crusade, while pushing the ongoing Light-versus-Void storyline that began in the upcoming expansion, The War Within. Digital editions are priced at $49.99 (Base), $69.99 (Heroic), and $89.99 (Epic), each adding varying account-wide perks. Blizzard has not narrowed down a release window beyond the Worldsoul Saga roadmap, but preorder access gives players time to clear inventory, scout transmog, and otherwise prepare for their first real estate purchase on Azeroth.

Beyond the narrative beats, Midnight addresses several long-standing community requests, notably a fully fledged player-housing system. The update also refreshes classic zones, introduces a new allied race, and adds an alternate Demon Hunter specialization that draws power from the Void rather than Fel magic.

What to expect in Midnight

  • Silvermoon City hub – The Blood Elf capital is rebuilt and expanded with locations such as the Sanctum of Light and a Memorial Garden. Some districts remain faction-specific for Horde players.
  • Questing zones
    • Eversong Woods: Healing after the Scourge invasion but facing new Light-bloom anomalies and Void cultists.
    • Zul’Aman: Explorable forest areas surrounding the original raid, where players assist the Zul’Amani trolls as they reconnect with their Loa.
    • Harandar: A subterranean jungle formed by the roots of multiple world trees, first glimpsed in The War Within.
    • The Voidstorm: A volatile rift where Void forces pour into Azeroth, doubling as a high-risk zone and future battleground.
  • Prey system – An opt-in hunting feature led by Astalor Bloodsworn in Murder Row, designed to add extra open-world challenges.
  • New allied race: Haranir – Bioluminescent hunters from Harandar. Available classes: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Monk, Druid.
  • Demon Hunter specialization: Devourer – A mid-range DPS spec that channels Void energy. Void Elves can now become Demon Hunters through this path.
  • PvP additions
    • Slayer’s Rise: Part of The Voidstorm repurposed as a world-PvP hotspot and large-scale battleground inspired by Alterac Valley.
    • Training Grounds: The Comp Stomp mode becomes permanent and expands to Silvershard Mines and Battle for Gilneas, letting players fight AI opponents.
  • Player housing – Personal plots across Azeroth with thousands of décor items earnable through regular gameplay.
  • Standard expansion content – New raid tier, dungeons, delves, and quality-of-life updates.
