Rumor: Trailer Leaked For Amazon's Upcoming MMO New World

Amazon initially made a big splash with its entrance into the video games industry. The eCommerce giant bought Twitch for $1 billion back in 2014, launched a new game engine called Lumberyard in Feb 2016, and announced a major new MMO project called New World in September 2016. Sadly, they've had a few setbacks since. Amazon stopped development on Breakaway in 2017 and there's been no public update on New World since its announcement.
This week we may finally have something. A user on the New World subreddit claims to have leaked original footage of New World which may or may not be part of an upcoming trailer. The leaked footage is only 26 seconds long and shows a Western style MMORPG set in the Americas. Players take on the role of European explorers as they conquer the New World. There seems to be a strong emphasis on economic activity, territorial control, and teamwork.
While the setting presented in the trailer makes sense given the project's name, the graphics do leave a lot to be desired. If this footage is real, its obviously very early stage content but even still, there's no real "wow" factor presented. Amazon's New World wouldn't be the first MMORPG set in the Age of Exploration. Games like Granado Espada (2006), Voyage Century (2006), and Uncharted Waters Online (2005) all have a similar setting.
