PvP Sandbox MMO Reign Of Guilds Launches Into Steam Early Access To Mixed Reviews

The Reign of Guilds is at hand as the titular PvP sandbox title officially launches into Steam Early Access after a brief delay and six long years in development.
The medieval-styled MMO makes its early access debut with hardcore features and mechanics to keep PvP players hooked, including open world fights, unrestricted territory wars, non-target combat in first-person view, and harsh death penalties. Players also need to keep their karma in check as it will affect how the amount of XP and items that they lose when they get killed.
Fighting is just one part of the game though, as players can also engage in diplomacy, crafting, and trading. “Here, nobody values blisters from a pickaxe or a shovel, but what considered as value are interaction skills with other players, be it either combat or diplomacy, trade or craft,” developer Atlant Games explains. “Some Guilds will go toe-to-toe in deadly battles for the lands, castles, titles, and the throne, while others will win over craft and trade markets without any bloodshed and position themselves on the same level with Counts and the King.”
Reign of Guild’s early access caps off an extremely busy month for the team which was spent rolling out fixes, optimizations, and server improvements. Even so, they admit that they aren’t as ready for launch as they’d like to be, which is unfortunately evident in the Mixed reviews that it’s received so far.
Most complaints are aimed at the game’s clunky and unresponsive combat and relatively unpolished state. Some players, however, are apparently having a blast once they looked past the combat issues, saying that it’s a breath of fresh air from the parade of survival sandbox clones that have come out over the past few years.
Reign of Guilds is normally priced at $39.99 but you can grab a copy for just $33.99 until April 12 if you’re looking to make the leap.
