Overwatch's Latest Hero Orisa Is Live, But Not In Competitive

Overwatch's newest hero Orisa has gone live—which also means there's a new trailer to watch below—in all versions of the game, but the robotic tank will not be available in Competitive Play. Principal Designer Scott Mercer took to the forums to say:

When patch 1.9 releases tomorrow, Orisa will not initially be available for Competitive Play. We want to give players some time to learn about and play Orisa before she's placed into the crucible of Competitive Play.

Makes sense. Disabling her mitigates player pressure to know what you're doing when rank is on the line. Players can instead goof around as they figure out Orisa's movesets and then wear their serious faces when she goes live competitively. It's worth noting that Orisa has been released in the middle of Overwatch's fourth season.

The delay only lasts for one week before Orisa joins competitive play.

In other Overwatch news, Blizzard might eventually release a map-editor. Do so, pretty please.
