Overwatch Removes "Defeat" Screen, Replaces With "2"

Today, the Overwatch team announced that they will be removing the "Defeat" screen when a team loses and replacing it with the number "2." The "Victory" screen, when a team wins, will remain as is. Sources suggest Jeff Kaplan explained the change in an official forum post:
"We want to ensure that when players lose a match they haven't actually been 'defeated,'" writes Kaplan. "Whether you earn a victory or defeat, you're still a winner so long as you remember to have fun."
Losing teams will soon see an image of a gold medal with the number "2" etched into the material when their team has failed to win.
The mentality behind the change is that word "defeat" is intrinsically harmful to players, resulting in decreased self-esteem and a decrease in the desire to play Overwatch. Perhaps the change will increase player retention.
When asked if the gold medal meant anything anymore if both teams received one, Kaplan responded, "We're currently looking into the possibility of changing all ranks to gold, with either numbers or letters etched into them to signify a rank. Or, maybe we'll just stick with gold." It remains to be seen how the playerbase reacts to the changes.
