MultiVersus Delays Season 1 Launch And Morty Character Indefinitely

Warner Bros. has delayed the first season of its new platform brawler MultiVersus indefinitely with no reason given for the delay. The new Morty playable character, which was supposed to make its debut when Season 1 kicked off on August 9th, has also been subsequently delayed.
“We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 and the release of Morty to a later date,” the team tweeted. “We know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players. We'll let you know the timing as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience and enthusiasm and look forward to unveiling season 1 very soon!”
Season 1 was also supposed to launch with a paid battle pass priced at 950 Gleamium, the game’s premium currency, or around $10 depending on the Gleamium bundle purchased. The battle pass will feature 50 reward tiers to unlock which is roughly similar to the Valorant battle pass and half of the ones in Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Hearthstone. It’s still unclear how long each season will run for and how hard it will be to unlock the rewards.
Due to the delay, the ongoing pre-season and its accompanying battle pass will be extended until August 15th.
Meanwhile, the game continues to gain popularity since its open beta launch last week and currently sits at the 11th spot of Steam’s Most Played Games list. It just missed the cut to gain a spot on the Top 10 by around 3000 players but logged a peak 24-hour player concurrency of nearly 116,000 players.
