Multiplayer ARPG Space Punks Launches Into Open Beta As A Free-To-Play Title
Jagex and Flying Wild Hog’s online co-op ARPG, Space Punks, has officially launched into open beta on PC and consoles. As we previously mentioned, the game gives off a strong Borderlands-meets-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy vibe and will send players on an intergalactic quest for fame and fortune.
“Space Punks is a living, evolving, free-to-play online co-op action RPG space romp that will see you shootin’ and lootin’ your way across the galaxy. Blaze a trail alone or team up with three fellow intergalactic thieves to form a formidable fortune-hunting foursome. Lay siege to hordes of alien scumbags, harvest their loot and tool up to take on bigger - and more lucrative - bosses.”
The game’s open beta launch marks its transition to a free-to-play business model and the release of the endgame-focused Cracked One update. Cracked One is the fifth major update to be released since the game launched into Early Access in July 2021 and introduces major changes to the core gameplay loop along with the new Get-A-Job quickplay feature and improvements to the crafting system which now grants players access to a wider variety of gear early in the game.
The update also gives players access to new endgame content in the form of an endless dungeon called “the Crack.”
“With an endless dungeon mode set deep within ‘the Crack’ Black Hole, it will see players jump from one dimension to another as they explore the unknown and attempt to reach infinity. The dimensions come in two flavors: Common – in which players have to kill a set amount of enemies to move to the next dimension, and Milestone – where players will have to find and kill the area boss to be able to continue gameplay.”
Space Punks is now available on the Epic Games Store as well as on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Check out the explosive new trailer after the jump.
