As promised, Bossa Games has begun public testing of Lost Skies as the high-flying multiplayer game takes a big development step to pre-alpha. We’ve been keeping an eye on the in-development tile since the studio first announced it back in May as the spiritual successor to its now-defunct Worlds Adrift MMO.

Like Worlds Adrift, Lost Skies is set in floating islands that players will be able to traverse using flying ships, gliding, or by swinging around like Spider-Man using grappling hooks. Unlike Worlds Adrift, the upcoming game has moved away from hardcore open-world PvP in favor of a more benign co-op PvE experience, with player-to-play combat restricted to PvP servers. It also features a steady progression path that will be gated by storm walls and challenging bosses that will push players to their limits.

Worlds Adrift’s popular Island Creator will also be returning to the game and is also now available for public testing alongside the main game.

“Our current, pre-alpha playtest has added new islands to explore, including islands made by our community which already show off the complexity and beauty of our islands, and the fragments of ruined civilisations from before the mysterious event that shattered the world,” Bossa Games announced. “[…] We have also released a playtest build of our Island Creator tool, which allows players to build their own floating islands and upload them.”

To be eligible for a pre-alpha invite you’ll need to sign-up for the game’s open development program and be fairly active on Discord.
