Bossa Studios Officially Unveils Worlds Adrift-Inspired Co-op PvE Game Lost Skies

Earlier this month, Bossa Studios announced its plans to shift their focus to co-op and multiplayer PvE games. They also teased ongoing work on a new PvE game which the studio has now named as Lost Skies, promising a co-op experience with gliding, rapelling, skyships, and floating islands.
“In Lost Skies, players team up to explore a vast world made up of floating islands. The skies are full of opportunities to build customised sky-ships, brave ferocious storms, battle monsters and solve the mysteries of ancient civilisations, forgotten technologies and the story of the shattered world.”
Sound familiar? It’s probably because that’s exactly what the studio’s now-defunct Worlds Adrift MMO offered before it crashed and burned just two years after its early access launch.
“Lost Skies draws inspiration from one of Bossa’s earlier games called Worlds Adrift,” acknowledged Bossa Studios game designer Luke Williams. “The idea of adventuring among the clouds was at the heart of that game too, and we’ve always loved that core concept. So we’re thrilled to be able to head skyward again to bring players a completely new and ultimately very different co-op-focused experience that shares a lot of that same spirit.”
“Lost Skies builds on the ideas and gameplay of the previous Bossa game Worlds Adrift, but is an entirely new game based on cooperative survival exploration,” explains Bossa Studios. “Playing solo or with up to five companions, players can once again grapple, glide, climb and sail across a massive open world of hand-crafted islands in the sky.”
One of the main issues that players had about Worlds Adrift was its open PvP setup that resulted in a savage community of griefers, ultimately leading to the game’s untimely demise. The developers later tried to address this problem but it was too little too late. Bossa’s CEO Henrique Olifiers, however, assures the community that they won’t make the same mistake in Lost Skies.
That’s not saying that the game won’t have PvP though as players will apparently be able to host their own PvP servers. Unlike Worlds Adrift, Lost Skies will also feature a “steady progression path” that will be gated by storm walls and massive enemies designed to push players and their friends to their limits.
There’s no release timeline for Lost Skies just yet, but Bossa Studios did reveal that it will be coming first to PC with more information on other platform releases coming in the future. The team is also promising an “innovative open development” test phase set for later this year.
In the meantime, the team’s first developer diary for the game awaits your viewing pleasure below.
