Ikonei Island Launches On Consoles On March 21 Alongside A Gameplay Overhaul

Ikonei Island is expanding its playerbase to include console users as the cutesy cozy co-op game heads to PlayStation and Xbox on March 21. It also promises a radically revamped experience on the same day with the release of Update 1.5: Blooming Beginnings.
While Ikonei Island has enjoyed very positive reviews on Steam since it launched on the platform in November 2023, developer Snowcastle Games reveals that it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. “The game had a tough start on PC, which led to the delay of the console release until this point – but we used the time to really double down on making sure that the game offers the best possible experience for console players,” the studio said.
The update will improve almost every aspect of the game, but, as the title suggests, will mostly focus on improving the new-player experience with a new starting area and a revamped tutorial system. It will also introduce puzzle activities, a new mob called Vipeagon, and rework the farming and companion systems to make life just a whole lot easier for the castaways on the fantastical island.
“We have to thank our community for their incredible support and feedback and without doubt they have helped make Ikonei Island into a better game than it was at launch,” said Snowcastle CEO Bendick Stang. “With our Blooming Beginnings update and the launch of the game on PlayStation and Xbox, we are effectively releasing a 1.5 version of Ikonei Island which takes it to a whole new level. We can’t wait for you all to explore the island and experience it for yourselves!”
