Heroes Of The Storm 2.0 Gives It Cosmetics Like Overwatch

Heroes of the Storm's 2.0 update is adding loot crates and a library of cosmetics, giving it a rewards systems that looks like its cousin Overwatch. Every time player's level up they'll earn loot chests, brimming with random skins, sprays, bannners, voice lines, etc.; everything you could imagine being in a shiny box.
Lead game designer Travis McGeathy told GamaSutra that there will be a re-roll mechanic in the unfortunate event a player receives an unfavorable loot box. Interesting. Though the algorithms should ensure that players don't have much bad luck. Is 'luck" the right word? If you double up on an item you'll exchange it for shards, a brand new currency that can be exchanged for additional cosmetics, heroes, or anything else purchasable within the game.
The addition of loot in 2.0 is a smart move. Loot crates form another reason to keep playing a MOBA—or any game—beyond climbing the ranks and improving your skills. And I know at least one person who approaches loot crates like its a Pokédex: they have to collect all the cosmetics; perhaps Blizzard will see a significant income boost from HotS.
While primarily an update about playing dress-up, 2.0 will introduce a new hero: Cassia, Amazon from Diablo 2. "She had seen hatred, terror, and destruction firsthand. If the Askari were to survive the coming darkness, they needed an army. She would begin their training immediately."
