In an official announcement posted January 31, 2023 developer TLM Partners outlined the future of the Heroes & Generals franchise:

  • The next mid-season update will be the final one. Players will have the ability to unlock battle passes from previous seasons.
  • Heroes & Generals will shut down within the next 6 months.
  • The current development team will transition away from Heroes & Generals and work towards building a playable prototype of Heroes & Generals 2: The Next War, built on the Unreal 5 Engine.
  • A Kickstarter campaign with a goal of raising $3 million in 60 days will launch on February 13, 2023.

Heroes & Generals was first released in 2014 by Danish studio Reto Moto and has seen multiple content updates over the past 8 years. The game still boasts a healthy playerbase and will likely get a boost with the launch of a direct sequel.
