Helldivers 2 Nerfs Annoying Armored Bugs, Drops New Major Order, And Adds Flying Bugs
It’s been a pretty eventful week in Helldivers 2 with the launch of its first balance update and the unexpected arrival of mechs. Yesterday saw another update hit the live servers that addressed complaints over the recent weapon nerfs by also nerfing heavily armored Terminids like the Bile Titan, Charger, and Annihilator Tanks.
Shortly after the update’s release, Arrowhead Games launched a new major order that offered the Super Earth’s soldiers the chance to completely and permanently rid Erata Prime, Fenrir III, Meridia, and Turing of Terminid infestation.
“The Terminid control system has been constructed by SEAF engineers on all barrier planets. However, the Terminids swarmed across all 4 planets, forcing evacuation,” the Super Earth Ministry of Intelligence reported. “The Helldivers are called to activate the TCS. Once activated, it will inoculate each planet with Termicide, quarantining the bugs permanently.”
The rush to secure the sector seems to have also awakened a new bug breed that’s caught several Helldivers by surprise. Since the new major order arrived, there have been multiple sightings and reported attacks by swarms of a powerful new flying bug called the Shrieker. Players also spotted what appeared to be their nests which players will presumably need to destroy to prevent new Shriekers from spawning.
Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt, however, facetiously denied the existence of the new flying menaces. “I've heard rumors of flying bugs in Helldivers 2. I want to officially refute such preposterous claims,” he tweeted. “Everyone knows that 'Bugs can't fly.' And I'm not alone in thinking this. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from bug sympathizers that want to brainwash good people.”
Flying bugs, of course, are conspicuously present in the Helldivers 2 box art. It’s a fitting capper to an already remarkable week. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some bug killing to do on the barrier planets.
