Helldivers 2’s First Update Adds Planetary Hazards, Tweaks Guns, And Fixes Armor Issues

Mechs might still be missing from Helldivers 2, but it did get meteor showers as part of its first balance update. Not the small sparkly streaks in the sky, but the big flaming ones that slam hard into the ground. As if meteors weren’t enough, the dedicated soldiers of Super Earth will also have to deal with fire tornadoes during their galactic battles, likely at the whim of the almighty Joel.
“Many planets now have additional environmental challenges that will appear at random while you are deployed, from fire tornadoes to meteor showers and many more,” reads the patch notes.
Additionally, players who’ve been using Eradicate Missions to farm XP, requisitions, and medals at the cost of affecting the outcome of the ongoing war will now have to spend significantly more time completing them. “The time to complete the mission was previously shorter than intended and should now usually take twice as long to complete,” the developers explain.
Sweeping adjustments have also been made to several fan-favorite weapons and armor rating values have been fixed. All armor types should now reduce damage more effectively as intended. You’ll find the full patch notes on the Helldivers 2 Steam page if you want to get all nitty gritty.
