Hearthstone Nerfs Cards In Latest Update, Announces Wildfest Event

hearthstone year of the mammoth headerLast week, Hearthstone Game Director Ben Brode talked about the upcoming changes to the CCG’s ranked ladder experience followed by an announcement that the devs will be nerfing a number of cards that have been deemed too strong.

Today’s update brings those changes to the online CCG, although the changes to Ranked Play won’t take effect until the start of the season in March. Four cards have been nerfed with update 10.2. Bonemare now costs 8 mana (previously 7), Corridor Creeper’s attack has been decreased from 5 to 2, Patches the Pirate’s Charge was removed, and Raza the Chained’s Battlecry now reads, “If your deck has no duplicates, your Hero Power costs (1) this game,” instead of Hero Power (0).

Hearthstone is also celebrating the Year of the Mammoth with two new card backs, and a limited edition Year of the Mammoth Bundle which allows players to purchase 30 card packs for a special price. Also, as part of the celebration, Hearthstone will be holding an event called “Wildfest!”. The event will run from February 19th through March 11th and will feature Wild cards in the Arena, and new Wild-themed Tavern Brawls.

Check out the video below for a brief explanation of the changes. You can also head over to the Hearthstone Official Blog for the full changelog.
