Hearthstone Reaches 100M Users; Gives Away Free Card Packs To Celebrate
Hearthstone might not have made much of an impression at BlizzCon 2018 but that doesn’t make it any less popular. Blizzard Entertainment has just announced in a recent press release that their Warcraft-themed online collectible card game has just reached 100M registered users. Not bad for a game that, according to the devs, started out as a “small passion project.”
“A little over five years ago,a few Blizzard Entertainment developers were toiling away on a small passion project: Hearthstone, a free-to-play digital collectible card game at a time when such games were not front of mind for most. They based the game on the company’s Warcraft universe and polished every aspect—from the flash of the animations to the bombastic voice lines of the heroes—and launched it to critical acclaim globally in 2014. Today Blizzard announced that Hearthstone has hit the 100-million-player mark.”
To mark the occasion, Blizzard will be giving away six free card packs in their “100 Million Players Celebration” event which will run from November 7th through November 11th. Players can claim their free The Boomsday Project card packs by simply logging in to the game during the event.
Aside from free card packs, players can also complete the “Celebrate the Players” series of quests to earn up to 500 gold. Players can use the gold to buy additional card packs or to join the Arena.
