Hearthstone Nerfs Warsong Commander

Blizzard Entertainment's MMOTCG, Hearthstone, has announced a rare balance change to the game with a nerf to the Warsong Commander. The Warsong Commander previously read "Whenever you summon a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge" and has been changed to"Your Charge minons have +1 Attack".

This was a direct design nerf to the Grim Patron and Frothing Berserker combos which created several buffed tokens to exploit the Warsong Commander's power. The "Patron Warrior" deck has been the most prevalent deck in Hearthstone for quite some time and has a reputation of dominating the table. However, the nerf seems a bit heavy handed and takes an interesting card and crushes it completely into the dust. The +1 to attack is fairly minor and the Charge keyword is uncommon. In addition, several cards have a strong benefit and are still considered quite weak, such as the Raid Leader card.
Blizzard seems to be aware of the complications of changing the strength of a card and has stated that they intend to only perform balance changes when absolutely necessary.
