Hearthstone Drops Its March Of The Lich King Expansion And New Death Knight Class

The Death Knight class has made its way to Hearthstone this week with the release of the online collectible card game’s March of the Lich King expansion. Players who join battles using the new class will gain access to a new Hero Power called Ghoul Charge which, as the name suggests, will allow them to summon a Ghoul that can attack on the turn that it’s summoned.

“The shambling ghoul falls apart at the end of your turn, no matter where it attacks,” said Blizzard. “Luckily, whenever a friendly minion dies, Death Knights get a resource called a Corpse that can then be used to power up their cards.”

The new expansion also brings back the Reborn keyword and adds 145 new cards, Undead and dual type minions, and the new Manathirst keyword. “Classes aligned with the Blood Elves, and some Neutral cards, have the new Manathirst keyword,” explained the devs. “Cards with Manathirst get a bonus effect when you have at least the specified number of mana crystals. You don’t need to spend that extra mana, you just need to have it. Will you play your cards right away or hold out for a more powerful effect?!”

There’s also a new prologue questline for the expansion, a new free and premium reward track, a special tavern brawl, and a launch event, all of which are now live in the game. Blizzard is also selling a March of the Lich King Tavern Pass with brand-new cosmetic rewards and comes with a 10% XP boost.
