Guild Wars 2's WvW World Linking Enters Beta

As a part of ongoing efforts to improve Guild Wars 2's WvW experience, ArenaNet is testing World Linking this weekend. World Linking will allow worlds to link together in order to stabilize WvW populations. The manner in which worlds are linked is dependent upon their "factors like the world’s current rank and population numbers." NA has an even number of servers, so they will all be paired, but there are an uneven number of more densely populated EU servers, so some EU servers will not be paired.

Glicko volatility and deviation will be reset "the the same value" for each world—which means there will be no downtime—but ratings will remain unchanged. For now, worlds will only be paired with other worlds of their tier. Winning and losing will have larger effects on each world's rating. "A clean wipe or a weighted average" may be considered in the future, but not for this first beta. Worlds may be redistributed in the future and "3 or more smaller worlds" may find themselves linked at one point.
