The main unofficial Discord server for Guild Wars 2 has been unceremoniously shut down after its admins and moderators up and left to create their own server. Apparently, they’ve had enough of the server owner’s toxicity and have decided to finally call it quits.

“Recent events have made it clear that the owner of this server has little to no regard for those who put in work here, does not take their position seriously, and cannot be held accountable. We will not tolerate this,” the staff wrote. “We have tried to address this behind closed doors and have been met with obstinance, arrogance, and outright hostility. As such, we no longer feel safe or at home here, and are therefore setting out on our own.”

“We have been hard at work on a new server, where we hope to foster a community as wonderful as this one,” they continued. “In our many combined years here, we have watched this server grow from its humble shitposting roots to one of the friendliest gaming collectives that can be found. The people here have consistently amazed us in their openness, warmth, and desire to help others. Friends, we couldn’t be more proud of having shared this place with all of you for so long; it is with a heavy hear that we take our leave.”

“Thank you for your years of support, we love you all, and we’ll see you in the mists,” they concluded.

The original server was reportedly shut down just a few minutes after the staff announced their departure, resulting in the loss of years of data. The staff were apparently able to save a ton of information though and are currently working to update the new server, which you can join through this link.
