The Shadow of the Mad King has fallen across Tyria once again as Guild Wars 2 brings back the titular event for its annual Halloween run. This year’s event features a very welcome addition to the usual lineup of limited-time activities in the Mad Realm in the form of a less stressful and less panic-inducing version of the Stopped Clock Tower platforming puzzle.

“A new variant of the long-feared Mad King’s Clock Tower jumping puzzle has appeared!” ArenaNet announced. “Normally unavailable to visitors during maintenance, the Stopped Clock Tower is now open to guests looking for a more leisurely incarnation of the tower’s daunting climb. Existing achievements have been updated to reflect which version of the clock tower they can be completed in, and new achievements have been added for you to conquer each variant.”

Those who manage to reach the top of the dreaded clock tower will be rewarded with a chance to craft four Paper Bag headpiece skins, each with their own unique hand-drawn emotions. The Wizard’s Vault has also been updated with new Halloween-related tasks.

Shadow of the Mad King 2023 will come to an end on November 7th, so you better get yourself up that clock tower as fast as you can.
