Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Expansion Announced, Launching Sept 22

The second expansion to Guild Wars 2, Path of Fire, was officially announced today and is set to release on September 22, 2017 with an open world preview weekend running from August 11-13 for everyone. Path of Fire adds 2 new massive areas to the game - the Crystal Desert from the original Guild Wars as well as Elona which is from the original game's Nightfall expansion. The expansion can be purchased by itself for $29.99 or bundled with Heart of Thorns for $49.99.
“This new expansion is all about content,” said Mike O’Brien, ArenaNet president and co-founder. “An epic story, five immense new open-world zones, mounts that allow you to move through Tyria in all-new ways, and nine new elite specializations.”
The upcoming Path of Fire expansion also adds new mounts, elite specializations for level 80 characters, new enemies, new puzzles, new quests, and much much more. Make sure to check out the new zones during the upcoming open preview weekend which is open to literally every Guild Wars 2 player (whose account is in good standing). Everyone who buys the new expansion will also get a free Max-level boost which helps players begin their journey at level 80 and with some gear and gold. Players who pre-purchase also get 3 special bonuses:
- The Spearmarshal’s Gift - A special gift from an anonymous friend in Elona. Players will use this to choose one weapon skin from the Sunspear Weapon Set.
- “Elonia Envoy” title - Whether a new arrival to Elona or coming home, build bridges by displaying this symbol of respect and friendship.
- Miniature Balthazar - This exclusive miniature replica of the god of War and Fire is on the warpath.
