Guild Wars 2 Rolls Out Living World Season 1 Ep. 3: Clockwork Chaos

The latest episode of Guild Wars 2’s Living World Season 1 relaunch is now live and permanently free for all players. As with previously released Season 1 episodes, Episode 3: Clockwork Chaos has been restored and restructured to fit with ArenaNet’s current Living World campaign structure and is now available as a linear questline from the Story Journal.

“In the wake of the climactic events of the Personal Story, a villainous plot is coming to fruition. Queen Jennah has announced a grand gathering to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her rule and the enduring spirit of Kryta, but behind the scenes, not all is going entirely according to plan. Meet up with your friends Rox and Braham to attend the commencement ceremony and confront the enemy behind the recent disturbances face to face!”

Completing Episode 3 will unlock the original achievements from when it first came out in 2013, along with new achievements and a new mastery meta-achievement. The worldwide clockwork invasion from the episode’s original release has also been made permanently available and will now take place every two hours.

The latest game update also introduces the promised world boss changes to the Great Jungle Wyrm, Fire Elemental, Shadow Behemoth, and Svanir Shaman Chief. The changes are designed to smoothen the difficulty progression from older bosses to new ones by bringing up to par with more modern design standards and player builds. All four bosses now have skill telegraphs and defiance bars, rebalanced hit points, improved encounter mechanics, and better rewards.

Raid rewards have also been simplified with the update to make raiding more accessible, reduce barriers to entry, and free up more inventory space. Players will also be awarded new weekly bonus chests for completing any raid in Challenge Mode.
